Livraria Lello

Livraria Lello, often celebrated as one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world, has been a cultural landmark since 1906.

Concept

Interactive Installation

We developed an interactive installation, situated outdoors to engage passersby in a thought-provoking experience.

Inspired by George Orwell’s 1984, the project explored surveillance, propaganda, and dehumanization, merging immersive design with cutting-edge technology to create a visually arresting and intellectually stimulating piece.

*
At the heart of the installation stood a mannequin dressed in a formal suit, its head replaced by a vintage television screen - a powerful symbol of propaganda and the erasure of individuality. Live-feed cameras positioned strategically around the display captured the movements of onlookers, projecting their images in real-time onto the screen. This evoked an unsettling sense of being watched, mirroring the omnipresent surveillance central to Orwell's narrative.
